This is rule 8.1.4 if you're interested in reading it.
Also, the second 2 spaces MAY be occupied by the defensive players if the offensive player do not chose to occupy them. And, the third marked spaces MAY be occupied by teh offensive players if the defensive players do not chose t occupy them. In any account, the maximum number of defenders allow along the lane is 4 and the maximum number of offensive players is 2.
