ASA rules, had a question asked. Batter squares to bunt, pitch comes inside (actually right at her) she attempts to get out of the way but gets hit. Now here is the question

A) She pulls the bat back prior to getting hit
B) She does not get the bat pulled back prior to getting hit.

This guy swore that if she kept the bat out that it was not an award to 1st by getting hit. I don't remember any such thing in the book like that, if she holds the bat still in the zone and the ball rolls on the ground over the plate, it is a ball (as long as no attempt toward the ball is made) so how would holding the bat square take away the HBP award?? Am I missing something???
It cannot. Your friend is either clueless or thinking of another game. If the batter doesn't try to hit the ball or it's in the strike zone, she gets 1B.

If the pitch is in the strike zone, it's a DEAD BALL, STRIKE.
