Why would it have mattered? Drinking age was certainly no more than 18 then....it was only the 70's or early 80's that it was changed.
It was before 1970, I'm sure. I was oblivious before that, though. Didn't realize that it was ever lower than 21, except a few states in the 80's that lowered it.
The big move to 21 was in 1984 with some state preceding it by a few years. It coincided the federal government requiring states to have minimum ages of 21 in order to qualify for federal highway dollars.
