I think that's an overgeneralization, but it's a good starting point, I suppose. I would think that in order to qualify as taunting, a comment would need to be negative, or be designed to bring negative results. If a player said to her opponent, "Great shot!" and it wasn't sarcastic, I don't see how that could be taunting.
Obviously, I am talking about trash talking or negative comments about the player or their game.

I would hope the forum members are intelligent enough to understand.

How does one select taunting from being negative or possitive? If I'm at the free throw line and the defence keeps yelling "Who's guarding the best player, the free throw shooter", is that nagative? Will it affect my shot?
That's disconcertion, I guess they weren't.
