			One advantage of the battery operated units is if your area sufferes from occassional blackouts.  Of course, your gym must have enough windows to continue play.  However, even a short "bump" could cause a loss of the clock etc. where the battery system, I assume, would be impervious to that.  Unfortunately in our gym a "bump" causes us to lose our lights for 10-13 minutes.  Some rainy Saturdays are pretty frustrating.... 
 
As for the balls, I checked with local high schools to learn exactly which ball they are using.  I bought the same ball for our league games.  I can honestly say I've done what I can to easy the transition from our church league (56 teams,~550 kids) to high school play.
