I already said why. If it's clear which came first, then I'll call the one that came first. But if I was unsure as to which occurred first, I would call the violation, rather there err and call a foul on a player when the violation actually occurred first. I think that's pretty clear as to why. BTW, where did anyone say that the foul had to be against the opposing team?
It's no different than football. If you're unsure whether it's a fumble or an incomplete pass, then it's an incomplete pass. In such situations, you make decisions, based on what's best for the game.
