Not having LGP does not mean that the offensive player can overtly cause contact and get the call.

B1 is attempting to beat A1 to the basket. Realizing he/she can't get there B1 jumps away from A1 doing everything possible to avoid contact.

A1 jumps away from their path to the basket and into the retreating B1. To me LGP is not a factor in this type of play.

A1 made their bed and can lie in it.
