Hard to defend that "move". The one thing I can say is that it was a breaking ball that started out at his head. If it had been a fastball (which Manny obviously thought it was), then ducking your head would be the quickest method of getting out of the way.

Course, even in Little League, I was taught to turn away first then duck.
