One of the passages that I heard on the radio was that Canseco claims that at one point (while he was with the Yankees, I think) after a rehab stint, he ran a 3.7 (maybe it was 3.9) in the 40 yard dash. In either case, that's almost world-record time. I don't find him believable at all. I think the book is a combo of (1) quick money to cover a lot of debts and (2) revenge for being kept out of baseball, when he felt he still had a chance to reach 500 career home runs (which has traditionally been a "magic number" for Cooperstown).
