The California Interscholastic Federation became the first state association in the country to approve bylaws and policies that deal directly with steroid use and abuse.

The voted required parents, players and school officials to sign contacts promising that athletes wont use steroids. It regulates what dietary supplements coaches can distribute to athletes and require coaches to earn a certification that includes steroids-abuse education.
