"My Hero
New strategies are hard to come by. But Cleveland closer Bob Wickman managed one Tuesday when he balked -- intentionally. Worked, too, kind of. With a 4-2 lead in the ninth against the Twins and Michael Cuddyer on second, Wickman stopped in mid-delivery to balk Cuddyer to third. The pitcher said afterward he didn't want Cuddyer standing on second and tipping off the hitter on pitch location. The whole plan nearly backfired when Wickman walked the next hitter, who stole second to get the tying run into scoring position. But Wickman struck out Matthew LeCroy to end the game. Next plan for Wickman: the intentional wild pitch with a man on third."
