Once they become competitors per definition, it is out of our hands.
It's working as the number of DQs in my sectional area has dropped off tremendously as a result of this strict policy. It all begins with a pre-meet coaches and captains meeting.

With zero tolerance, wherever the line is drawn, life is pretty easy.

Maybe, in Michigan, they figger that their young athletes just may need a reminder.
When I used to be a parent, from time to time I asked the kids, "Now, just what were you thinkin'?"
