Officials set the score at 4-0 with Team B in the lead. A has the ball for a baseline throw in.

I still think the score was set correctly (case book 5.2.3). Alittle lunch time bantering, another is contending that 5.2.1 E & F would apply and the score should be 2-2.

The level was boys JV and all happened within the first few seconds of the game.

Thoughts? What else could the officials have done to prevent this?
I can't see how 2-2 would work, unless B went to the *other* basket for their layup.

I don't have the book but isn't 5.2.1 E & F where the teams are pointed in the wrong direction to begin the game?

IMO 4-0 is what we gotta go with, A messed up & B was smart enough to take advantage. The officials should have blew their whistles when A put the ball in the wrong basket & straightened this out immediately, score being 2-0 for B, A gets the ball & the endline.

edit: ya know what, I'm wrong. B didn't have a right to the ball after A's mess up. Take B's basket away, give the ball to A, the score is 2-0 B.

But the officials should have caught this one before the coach.
