Just a word of caution.  When you start taking umpiring money and using it to cover living expenses you should be aware that you're approaching a decision point wih this - is umpiring something you do for fun exercise and release OR is it a business.  When some folks realize that they are now umpiring for income, they change their approach to the games an that can cause a problem.  For others, and I think I'm in this group, it's not a problem.  Yeah, my approach has changed somewhat because I now look at this as a part-time job, with the income covering some of the normal living expenses.
