If my 3, 5 and 7 year-olds want to give me a hug at half-time, they get a hug. They'll remember this for a long time. "Daddy goes to ref football, but still has time to hug me."
I did the provincial final in 2003 and when I started to run back to the ref's room at half-time, I looked into the crowd and saw my parents. They originally said that they weren't sure if they could make it. I was so proud that day.
