Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union rules:
Player and Team Limitations---Iowa High School teams may play 21 games and Junior High teams may play 12 games. In high school each player is limited to 21 games---if she plays in 1-2 quarters on a calendar day, it counts as no game. If she plays in 3-6 quarters on a calendar day, it counts as one game. If she plays in 7-8 quarters on a calendar day, it counts as two games. In junior high, a player may only play in four quarters on a calendar day.
Iowa High School Athletic Assoc. Boys rules:
Quarters - Player Limitation Rule. A player may participate in a maximum of 6 quarters in one day. If a player participates in 3 to 6 quarters in one day, it constitutes one game toward the 21 games a player is allowed to participate in during the season. (1 or 2 quarters of participation does not constitute a game). Junior high boys basketball players are limited to 4-quarters in one day.
Hope this helps.
