Good job! Like Jan said, it can take awhile. Feels good when you finally get it though, doesn't it?

I was just starting to recognize it at the end of my first year, 75% of the time too late to do anything about it. In talking with one of our top officials after a match one night, she gave me a couple of pointers, mainly memorize the setter and her opposite, then her two adjacent teammates. Those nights I wasn't working matches, I tried to go and watch as many as possible from the stands - it really helped.

This last season was my 2nd, and for some reason at the beginning of the season it really clicked. Of the 20+ matches(not counting tournaments) I worked as the down official, there were only a couple where I didn't catch at least one overlap, and in one 4A varsity match I caught the setter from the #1 team in the league 4 times.
