Called my first T on a coach in a high school game this season tonight.

Game looked like a mis-match coming in, and it was 77-41.

First call of the game visitor's big girl, two forearms extended chuck on the cutter that knocked the cutter at least 3 feet.

I get it, report it and hear, " That's ticky-tac, this is basketball, you got to let them chuck the cutters." "No coach, they can't, and they WON'T."

I little later his player slowed down on a break and the defender got a piece of the shot, not even a hint of contact. He is up screaming for the foul.

The next trip down the floor my partner calls a travel, he's at the table jumping up and down, flapping his arms like a chicken, yapping about the call.

WHACK. I get him.

The 2nd quarter ends and he asked me to explain why he got the T without any warning. I about fell over, but I told him, "Coach you were on us from the first call, you were 10 feet out of the box, jumping up and down, yelling at my partner, coach that's automatic I have no choice on that one."

He still thought he should have gotten a warning and that I was too quick on the trigger and took him out of the game.

He coached his kids in the second half, without further problems, so the T made the game better, at least from the lack of yapping perspective.
