A1 drives the lane, puts up a shot as he gets fouled by B1, who then goaltends the shot but it goes in anyway. Since the ball went in, we ignored the goaltend and awarded one free throw.

After the game, we talked about it and questioned if we handled it right. Play had no effect on outcome.

If goaltending occurs and is called, the ball becomes dead and the goal counted. In this case, would the shooter still get two frees for being fouled in the act of shooting or just one since the goal was counted?

If goaltending occurs before the foul, is the foul ignored since the ball would be dead?

Thanks for your input on this one.
