After he said this much, I'd tell him that was enough. Any further griping about how mean I am and I am liable to just get meaner. The "You should be ashamed of yourself" may have earned him a T, depending on how vocal he'd been the rest of the game.

I inform the coach, start the 30-second clock, and go inform the player. I don't get NEAR the bench again until the 20-second horn goes off. If he wants to tell me how awful I am, he's gonna have to shout it and he's likely to get whacked.
