As everyone else said, you have to let game administration take care of fans. There are times where I make sure everyone in the gym knows who I'm talking to and what I'm talking about when I have to address a fan's behavior. Other than that, I have to agree that officials should not engage fans. As far as the original post about taking crap off a 7th grade Y coach. Everyone has their tolerant nights. I find that I put up with 0 complaining in the instructional leagues. If they want to ask a question, I'm more than happy to answer a question, but if they complain, they're getting a T. I had a travelling 6th grade coach 3 times last year. All 3 times he thought he could complain and all 3 times he got to sit on the bench for most of the game. The first time I got him he threw his hands up, stood up and complained about 13 seconds into the game. That was my quickest T ever. You'd think he would have learned.
