I was watching this game on TV
Let me acknowledge I only work NFHS.... but enjoy watching NCAA.
As brief as the camera "stayed with the shooter" (Diener) after the shot release, I clearly saw the elbow being thrown (live, in "real life speed"). I wondered why there wasn't an immediate whistle, for the elbow.
The announcers acted shocked (no suprise there) when the officials assessed the T foul after reviewing the tape. I am not sure why the referee went to the monitor initially. The game was delayed as Deiner was recieving medical attention for the elbow .
There hadn't been a whistle blown for the T, initially. I just found it a bit awkward.
