I said I didn't think so, but would get input on the board with some more "experienced" officials. I think this is different than a ball going OOB's which you may talk to your partner, and end up changing the call.
Would you do it, and CAN we. I know it is not a listed "correctable error", but I don't think it falls into that "category" either.

You are PARTLY correct.
He should not change the call, but he SHOULD have given the information of the tip to his partner, to allow his partner to get the call correct.
