1964, near as I can tell. I thought I'd read of a more recent one that was "harmless" (no deaths), but I can't verify that now.

Correct - resulted from a 9.0 earthquake in the Gulf of Alaska. Seaside/Cannon Beach area was hardest hit. I believe the death toll was 3 or 4 (it got some folks that were camped on the beach).
