Mike, when I attended the National Advanced Umpire School on Killeen (2002, before they renamed it the Fast Pitch School), it included working a Gold Sector Qualifier; and we were NOT paid. To the best of my knowledge, that has been the standard there. Bob was part of that staff (the last year any slow pitch was included, it was discontinued because of the poor support of slow pitch umpires), and can verify that.
