I'm WH during a JV game between two large schools. QB rolls toward his sideline and throws it for the endzone. B intercepts and begins to return it. Head coach (assistant) for A starts yelling at me, as I am near him, that they can't return it out of the endzone and it is an automatic touchback. While the play is going on I am telling him that everything is fine out there and he is confusing this play with a kick. When the play is over he tells me that I am the one who is confused and that I should read my rules book better. Some may have flagged him for this but I just thought it was a little funny. None of his other coaches said a thing about what was happening as they must have known that the coach was wrong. At the end of the game the coach appologized to me about that play. I got another laugh.
Another one.
I was LJ during a freshman game. I call a hold on A in B's endzone on a play where A scored. Later one of B's coaches comes over and says that one of the parents was taping the game and told me that it wasn't a hold. Imagine that a coach would tell you that your call was wrong when it kept the other team from scoring.
