Tolliver's Camp

Donna:

I attended Tolliver's camp in June 1999. I was 56 at the time and had only been officiating basketball for 4 years, although I officiated soccer for over 20 years. It was an excellent camp, although it was fairly expensive - $425.00. We did 3 games per day: morning, afternoon, and evening. If you were not officiating, you were assigned to film someone else - all 3 man crews. If you were not doing anything else, you were expected to be in the "main room" viewing films or working on your mechanics in front of the mirrors. All instructors were NBA officials except for a couple of D1 college officials. I thought I was a decent official before I went, but I found out that I didn't know jacks--t about officiating!! Actually, it wasn't that bad. They played some mind games with you, but they were also very honest in their critiques. I wanted to attend again last year, but I was out of the country at that time. I plan to attend this year, and I will be 58 in May!
