I greatly respect what everyone has said. I also talked to my assignment committee chairman, whose crew also trains the 1st thru 3rd year officials and he said it was up to me and that he does not have a problem with a possible move. He said he has done it himself, put a more experienced wingman on a difficult coach's sideline. His feeling is let the 1 thru 3 year guys concentrate on calling the game rather than dealing with irate coaches. Once they are comfortable in their calling then let them learn to deal with hard coaches.
I am also going by my experience in that I had a tough (not a real a$$ but tough none the less) coach on my sideline in a game with 2 top ranked teams in the state. I did not let him influence my calling but it was a distraction. I also have a no B.S. New Yorker attitude. I know I put more pressure on myself to call a great game than what he could have put on me.
