At camp this summer, the director talked about "the pencil." She said it's easy to focus on just one thing and miss the big picture. She said it's as if you hold a pencil out in front of you and just look at that and miss everything else. She said we need to learn to see the pencil AND the action behind it. What I worked on in this context was thinking of camera angles. "What would be the best camera angle if I were using a camera?" That helped me move more effectively on the floor, and helped me see the big picture.
