When I find this happening, I verbally remind myself what my responsibilities are. "Ok, I've got off-ball", "This play's mine", "Which foot is the pivot?", or "Find the defender". To keep aware of the game situation, I constantly remind myself of the arrow, game clock, who has possession, etc. This keeps me from getting tunnel vision and helps me be ready when something happens suddenly.

If you find yourself out-of-sync or out-of-focus, remind yourself of your basic responsibilities. As you go through the checklist, you're forced to broaden your focus.
