Just ask yourself. If this was a normal play and not a try and the QB was lined up with a knee on the ground but got it off of the ground before the snap got to him what would you call? As long as he isn't laying on the ground before the snap then there is nothing wrong with having a knee on the ground before the snap. Your play sounds like a well-executed fake kick.
