We were watching Monday Night Football and wondered what would happen if an attempted field goal hit the camera mounted on the crossbar of the field goal post and bounced back into the field. Is it considered a missed field goal? Does the kicker get to re-kick? Is the field goal counted because the ball would have sailed over the cross bar if the camera was not there? It would be great if someone could clarify this for us. Thanks!
The camera is mounted on the curved bar that holds the goalposts up, so if a FG attempt hit it, the ball would have already passed through the uprights.
