From my "younger days"

Working both baseball and softball during that season (1996). Worked about 3 baseball games with one guy (a sheriff from a nearby county). Get a call in the middle of May, around 2:30 in the afternoon. It's my sheriff friend asking me to cover for him during a JV game. Just happened to be open, so I go. He tells me "I owe you one."

Fast Forward to a year later, it's September. I'm driving through his county to see my future wife while she's at college. I'm slightly speeding (okay 85 in a 55), and I see the lights, pull over, get everything ready and guess who it is? Yep, my umpire buddy. He asks for the info, I give it to him, he recognizes the name, starts to head back to car to write the ticket (which I would have been happy with considering my speed at the time). I mention to him that "he owes me one" and I'd like to use it now. He smiles, tells me to slow down and then follows me to the county line.
