I've called in the same age level in tournaments where my daughter was playing. I just avoided her games. Never had anyone suggest I was trying to (for example) set up who her opponents would be, etc. I think you may be over-worrying about conflict. The only conflict I had was internal - i.e. I'd rather be watching her games than calling another one while she was playing. That's a better reason (IMO) for not calling in the same tournament!

This would never fly in my area.
We are discouraged from working games as in the example above.
We all know that the blues are honest, but it's that darn perception thing.
I don't believe that it's a case of over worrying either. Someone just might cite a conflict of interest here. JMHO
