Once the pitch has been delivered, an entirely different rule governs the play, namely rule 7.6.D-F. A batter is out when contact is made with the ball and
  1. one or both feet are on the ground completely outside the box,
  2. either foot is touching homeplate, or
  3. the batter has left the box to gain a running start but has reentered the box when the ball is hit.
