This would be a lot of Helmets to throw away, and have to re-purchase. I am also certain that these manufacturers are not going to mess with retro-fitting old helmets people may want to send back for face protection.
You don't think that this has been known for a while?

Testing began to develope standards for this last spring, if not sooner. ASA passed this rule in November, 2003 and people have been screaming for it for a couple of years.

It's not like something that has been creeping up on folks.
