I am currently in my second year with an association, although have been umpiring local leagues that do not have a contract with any association, for years. I love my local association, Are meetings are weekly in the months before the high school season starts, and when the summer leagues kick in we move to bi-weekly meetings. These are all held at a local American Legion hall. I really like the format of the meetings as well. We have our rules interpretor speak, in an open forum type atmosphere. Also when the local high schools are in the gym for pre-season work, we go in and work on our mechanics, which definatly helps. Meetings are pretty much manditory, meaning that if you do not attend offten, your assignment will reflec that. I am definately happy with the association that I picked to join.
