Jim,

When Daughter #1 went to Tifton, Georgia to play in the ASA 12 & under World Champonship tournment too many years ago, I saw a group of umpires that moved around the field like a well oiled drill team. One thing that I saw,and have copied, was that the BU in the 2 man system, and U3 in a 3 man, brushed off the pitcher's plate between every half inning, and then placed the ball on the plate.

In a recent Colt sectional semi final game, I was U3. I called one runner out on a tag in the bottom of the 1st inning, and cleaned off the pitcher's plate 17 times (we had 2 extra innings). Gotta do something to earn the big bucks!
