I attended a two day Gerry Davis clinic last year. I was extremely impressed with Gerry Davis, his crew and organization. I am not sure what will be covered in a one day clinic but what I believe you will definitely get your monies worth. The most important thing I remember from his clinic was that prefessional umpires are constantly looking for ways to improve their mechanics. As a result, they evaluate their performances and look for ways to improve. One example I can give you: Standard operating procedure for a grounder when in position A is to get a 90 degree position as quick as possible. Gerry's approach is to be aware "of your next responsibility" meaning that you get in position that allows you to make a call that pulls the first base man's foot or a swipe tag. As a result, he advoacates less than a 90 degree and when you read a bad throw you are in a better position to see the foot and the tag. I am sure you will learn a lot.
