Two recent instances on distraction from the bench on a free throw.

1. Standing as trail near the bench during a free throw in a 5th grade rec game. As team A shooting the first, a kid on team B bench says 'brick' loud enough for all to hear. I turned around and said "Do not say anything like that again. Let's redo that shot." Team A makes it second time around. Coach says to player "Hope you learned something." Thank you coach for the support.

2. 6th grade travel girls league. Team B bench was banging their heals on the bleachers during a free throw. I did the same thing. Coach politely questioned me on it and I explained the rule. Then coach A said that I was the first ref to call it all year on that team.

Let's show some sportmanship!
