I haven't yet seen the tape from the fight Friday night, but I talked with my assignor today. He was watching the tape as we talked, and said he thought I made a good call. We went over some things that we could have done to maybe prevent it, but he agreed that the 3rd participant should likely have been ejected. The tape shows that I could have maybe gone either way, I guess, but given the circumstances and the need for an immediate decision (without benefit of video replay), he felt comfortable with my call.
Given the immediate reaction from coaches and Athletic Director, I can't help but feel a tinge of vindication. I'll get the tape tomorrow to view (I'll make a copy).
