Boys varsity last night. A1 on a breakaway. A1 had already dunked once, so B1 was determined not to let him dunk again. B1 stopped the dunk, but not the shot, by grabbing both of A1's arms. A1 somehow got the shot off and, lo and behold, the ball goes in. Ref rightfully calls an intentional foul.

Refs then huddled for a few seconds, trying to determine how many FTs to grant. I, of course, thought I knew, so let them know - 1 FT, plus the ball at halfcourt. (I knew an intentional foul meant two foul shots, but thought that was negated by the made basket.) They, of course, ignored me, and gave A1 two FTs. When I got home, I checked the rules, then the case book. Wrong again! Every intentional foul results in two FTs. Guess I need to leave it the professionals. Argghh.

So, A1 makes the shot, both FTs and A makes a basket on the ensuing possession. Six point turnaround! Ow. Maybe we should sit back and enjoy the dunk next time. Or, maybe play a little better defense. Sheesh.
