OK, here's something that happened in my game this afternoon. On the initial jump, both jumpers hit the ball. The ball then dropped and sort of sat on the back jumper A1, who was bent at the waist. After a second, jumper B1 grabbed the ball and play started.
I know we kicked the violation when B1 grabbed the ball. I've made this call correctly more than once in the past, but the fact that the ball sat on A1's back threw me off. My question---should we have done anything before B1 grabbed the ball? Blown the play dead and rejumped? I've never seen nor read about any jump ball that looked like this.

Aside from the violation by B1, there is nothing you could of done. The ball was live and A1 did not have control of it. You just had to let the play develop.
