The college mechanic is the hand behind the head (men) or a punch (women). What we see on TV is not a mechanic. However, I have no problem with the point in the opposite direction (I can't since I've been known to do it ).

"That way" is used on out of bounds and "that way" is used on fouls. I think it would be a better practice to not use "that way" and use a color for out of bounds and "offense" or the color and number ("blue 54") on fouls. This is just another step in keeping everything clear. This is also just my opinion.
