2-3 or 3-5

yeah , id imagine that the 3 out of 5 matches would seem way longer than your traditional 2 of 3 if thats what everyone was used to, rally or side out scoring

here in cali, i believe it has ben sine the late 70s that matches have been played best of 5. of those matches which were side out scoring that went to 5 games lasted 2 - 2 1/2 hours. Even now with the rally scoring, the matches are not noticable longer or shorter, at least to me and I have been coaching for 11 years.

Varsity Matches are 3 of 5
Junior Varsity and Freshman games are 2 of 3

As far as the % of matches as rainmaker said about the winners of 2-3 games as to the 3-5 games....for the teams that are very evenly matched, 2-3 just isnt enough court time imo. Many times teams here can lose the 1st 2 and then win the next 3 it is not uncommon. Usually if a team wins 15-3 15-3 in the best 2 of 3 scenario, then yes, most likely that even if it was best of 5, the winner would be the same. but lets say it was 15-13, 16-14, then it really is better from a coaching standpoint to go best of 5. some teams run out of gas. some teams cant finish. SOme teams dont possess that type of focus that lasts more than an hour. IMO, best of 3 games just isnt a fair amount of game time to determine who is better that day. To me its like having a baseball lasting only 4 innings.

just my opinion
