A player cannot play the ball in a non-playable area. Therefore her (would-be-first) contact does not count as such. In this case it is no different than the ball hitting the floor, wall or bleachers.
If the ball was contacted by a teammate first, the call would be a touch. But since it came straight from the other side - it is out.
