This has nothing to do wth the Trail mirroring the Lead to chop in the clock, but with boxing in.
Several years ago IAABO made an exception to always boxing in on a throwin.
IAABO Manual
Page 297
Frontcourt Throwins
2. The Lead has the option of
administering from either side of
the thrower, whichever provides
the best court coverage.
I've only used this exception a few times as the Lead on a front court endline in the very far corner (almost on the sideline) when I thought that there was going to be one, or two, competitive matchups in the lane.
