Just for clarity, not everyone does this. There is no alternate in my Illinois until the State Finals which includes the Semifinals, 3rd Place game, and Championship game. That might not be the case everywhere that has an alternate. Should have one, but they don't.

All the Regionals, Sectionals, and Super-Sectionals just have the 3 officials.
