As far as I’m concerned - for HS it’s enough for the coach to confirm that the players are compliant with the jewelry rule. NCAA - I don’t ask.
Studs and posts (and in NCAAW, snug cuffs) can be worn above the chin. No hoops, dangles, bars and nothing below the chin. No jewelry can be taped over and the tape (and jewelry below the chin) should be removed.

Note that medical alert medallions and religious medals are not jewelry and have separate rules.
