New Connecticut COVID protocols as of December 26, 2021.
Fully vaccinated officials (signed affidavits on file with the CIAC) will no longer have to wear masks (though fully vaccinated and boosted, I will to wear my mask, I've got two underage grandsons who aren't vaccinated).
Note: Some local school districts will still require fully vaccinated officials to wear masks.
Not fully vaccinated officials will continue to wear masks and will have to submit weekly COVID test results.
Fans, players, and coaches will still have to wear masks.
Previous to this, officials had absolutely no responsibility for mask wearing by players. That has changed slightly. Referees will now cover that players must wear masks properly in the pregame coaches/captains/officials conference.
During the game officials are to remind players who aren't complying with mask protocols that they must wear their masks properly, however, unlike last season, there will be no penalties if they continue to not comply (last season, sit a tick).
